TVLine: How are things with Mary and Francis when Reign returns?

Check out what TVLine had to say about Reign in Matt’s Inside Line!

Have you got anything on how things are with Mary and Francis when Reign comes back? –Bree
In the season premiere? Distant. Francis is off with Lola, trying to protect them, while Mary is trying to avoid the plague in the castle. But once he returns home, things could be looking up as Mary “spends a lot of the first three episodes naked,” star Adelaide Kane reveals. “We’re sexy this season.” However, the whole Lola/baby situation will make things “awkward” around the castle for everyone involved.

When to Watch: Thursday, Oct. 2 at 9 p.m.
What to Expect: The Plague is here will have a major impact on all of the ladies in season two. Kenna is “going to be much more ambitious after the plague,” with her ambition “testing” her relationship with husband Bash, showrunner Laurie McCarthy previewed, adding that Greer’s love triangle will take a “tragic” turn in the premiere. As for Lola, the French Court will learn she’s the mother of Francis’ child, which will “elevate her status” and bring “surprising new love interests.” And how’s this for a juicy tease? “We’ll see an open marriage during the course of the season and I don’t want to say who,” McCarthy previews. Fingers crossed it’s not Francis and Mary!

TVLine May Sweeps Scoopapalooza!

PRE-FINALE EPISODES | “We’re going to move time forward more quickly towards the end of the season,” executive producer Laurie McCarthy tells TVLine, suggesting that King Henry’s madness will begin to progress more rapidly. “Mary will be the focus of his ambitions, of his rage and maybe even his desires.” Speaking of desires, one thing you should not expect is a rekindling of Bash and Mary’s romance. “There will always be a lingering thing between them,” McCarthy admits, “but [Kenna] is going to find herself falling for Bash, and she’s going to be successful in getting him to fall for her. Our lives have chapters. People move on.” As for that pesky “darkness” lurking about, McCarthy promises, “By the end of the season, we’ll answer the question of who the ‘darkness’ is and what kind of terror he’ll bring.”

MAY 15 SEASON FINALE | The final hour of Season 1 packs both “an incredible payoff and a shocking ending for Mary and Francis [as well as] Bash and Kenna,” McCarthy shares. “The king’s madness will also escalate in a shocking way. All of those events will come together — including the culmination of what we used to call ‘the thing in the woods’ — in a very surprising, dramatic end.”
